Bill Gates Wealth Index
Bill Gates Wealth Index is a funny look at what it means to be worth 50-100 billion dollars. The numbers are so large as to be almost meaningless. But they are even more ridiculous when broken down to our (well, my) level of income. For example, "a Lambourghini Diablo would cost $250,000, but in Bill Gates dollars that's 31 cents." What do you do when you can have, or do, anything?

A Culture of Life (?)
CBS News (and many others) are reporting that 108 POWs have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. In two years.
For some historical comparisons: "A total of 771 Americans were captured and interned during the Vietnam War. Of those, 113 died in captivity and 658, or 85 percent, were returned to US authorities during or at the end of a grueling conflict that claimed the lives of more than 58,000 American troops in Southeast Asia.
The number of prisoners taken during the Vietnam War was relatively small. Of the 142,255 Americans captured and interned during major wars in the 20th century, a total of 17,033 died in captivity. The Korean War had the highest casualty rate among US prisoners--with 38 percent of the 7,140 prisoners perishing."
Keep in mind that Vietnam lasted 11 years. So what were the conditions of that war that made for such a small number of prisoners...I have no idea.

Bereft of Ideas, Lucas Polishes His Prize Apple For One More Show
Rather than do something new, George Lucas plans to tinker with his film for yet another outing. But this time, in 3-D.
"Lucas did say what he hopes to do is re-release Star Wars in theaters yet again. He would do so in the year 2007 for the 30th anniversary, but this time, the film will be in 3-D. Then he'll re-release one installment each year starting the following year, until we've seen the entire series in 3-D."
Don't tell Rogero about this post or he will have a fit.
