Let The Dithering Begin Anew
The Globe and Mail: Harper rebukes U.S. envoy over Arctic dispute: "When Liberal Leader Paul Martin took the United States to task during the election campaign over its response to the softwood lumber dispute and climate change, Mr. Harper accused him of engaging 'in a series of phony and reckless wars of words with the United States that does not help this economy or Canadians.'"
So softwood lumber tariffs are a reckless and phony cause. But Arctic sovereignty is " in the best interests of Canada". I guess it is only coincidence that the U.S. really cares about softwood lumber and gives little thought or value to our claim of sovereignty over the north.

I did not know that geography could vote. And that the Maritimes, Quebec and BC went solidly CPC. And it is good to know that Harper won't use the civil service, but will dismantle it. Cool. I guess the elderly can drive to Ottawa every month for their cheques. And he won't enact any policy at all with that same regulatory machinery. Does he think that MPs will fill out cheques and issue permits in their spare time?
But, Phantom did school us with this sweet sentiment on another blog:

Dark Days Ahead
I am truly ashamed to be a Canadian on this cold, dark day. In the eyes of the world we are now a nation of gun loving, bible thumping, corporate worshiping, homophobic bigots, whose undemocratically appointed leader (less than 40 percent of the vote) closely resembles a child molesting psychopath. Have you looked into his ice cold, lazy eyes? Behind them lurk truly frightening ideoloies.
The majority of Conservative support comes predominantly from rural dwelling, old and/or uneducated voters . After living for over twenty five years in the "country", surrounded by illegal hunting, trespassing, knuckle dragging, hillbillies, that information comes as little surprise to me. Time to start budgeting for health insurance, gentle reader, for the end is Nye.
