Hope For NBC's The Office

The New York Post reports : "Ben Silverman, executive producer of NBC’s “The Office,” tells Don Kaplan at the New York Post that some of the cast of the original BBC version of 'The Office' will turn up to interact with Michael, Jim, Pam, Dwight, et al."

This can only be great.

Klosterman and Music

Chuck Klosterman made the point the other day that most people think music died after they left high school or universtiy. From this list it looks like it was already dead and buried. Ouch. I listened to this crap?

Oh well, things would be much cooler in 1989, wouldn't they? Nope.

Sure, I listened to "cool alternative music". But I am still stuck with the dominant cultural force of pop music dancing around in my head. I know all the words to all these songs. To quote Dan Quayle, "What a terrible thing it is to lose your mind, or not to have a mind".

I don't mind.

Jack Chick
is tremendously funny. Not as funny as this wingnut, but pretty close.

Materazzi Salutes Film At World Cup

Watching Materazzi get Zidane out of the World Cup final, I was thinking the same thing you were - Marco must be big fan of Fast Break. And he might be equally enamoured of it's star, the hunky Reb Brown. Now that is a world class tribute to an actor and a film. What a fan-boy.

Wimbledon 2006 - The Old Guys

It was great to see that Johan Kriek and Kevin Curren are still on their games. They won the 45 and over (take note honshui) men's doubles championship ove Peter McNamara and Paul McNamee. Sadly this was not televised, as it would have made great viewing for fans of stylish doubles with consumate smashes. I said consumate smashes!

Oh Good Grief

Why walk when you can Nordic Walk!

As if exercise could not get more retarded, we now have walking with two ski poles as the newest craze. But it must be cool 'cause "In Germany, Nordic walking is now practised by 4.4 million people, compared to just 10,000 four years ago."

And with a price tag of $100-$140 for the poles, it must be a real sport. And just how to the Fins compete at this event?

Scree-sliding as a "real" sport seems less silly everyday.
