New Young Pony Club - Icecream

A fun name. Cool guitar. Retro (80s) vocal stylings. Yup, I like ponies. It has a good beat and I can dance to it.

Next up - game theory and wrestling booking. Caffeine is fun!

Or You Can Blame China

“Apathy isn’t it. And we can do something. So flower power didn’t work. So what! We start again.”

John Lennon"

Saturday Economics Blogging

No quotes today, just a link to an article by David N. Laband and Christopher Westley entitled "How Not To Respond To Higher Gasoline Prices".

Let me summarize for you: making cars fuel efficient kills people. And makes us commies. But as they wrote this for The Freeman, a journal that

"Through its articles, commentaries and book reviews, several generations of Americans have also learned the consequences and contradictions that inevitably result from collectivism, interventionism, and the welfare state."

then it seems that they are just preaching to the choir. Well, I am off to assert the property rights of auto manufacturers by buying the biggest truck I can find.

Is Lorrie Goldstein Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?

So unless I miss my guess, what Lorrie is arguing in his column, is that Harper was right to reject Kyoto because not everyone is on board. We should not take a stand, for the planet earth, because some of the other kids won't play. So, if you see garbage on the road, just chuck yours out the window to join it, because unless there is 100% compliance, there is no point in lifting a finger to make a difference. And even if it would be merely an ethical stance, because China and India are such big polluters, don't bother. Walk past that scrap paper on the sidewalk because you can't make a difference. And if that argument fails, just do what Lorrie does and blame the Liberals. Their ineffectual stance on Kyoto exempts Harper from having to try at all. And blame Harper too, for he opposed Kyoto and is now for it. Unless it means actually doing something. Then he is against it.

Lorrie Goldstein may be smarter than a fifth-grader, but he argues like one. I know, I am being cruel to fifth-graders.

Anthem For The Uncool

Finally, after years of searching, I have a theme song. An anthem. It might not have fit a few years ago, but I have grown into it.

Stand average height! Stand normal! Stand ordinary!

Oh yeah, this is not safe for work or children. Headphones or alone only. Or with your impossibly cool wife (honshui, KD, and The Atomic Matt!).

Take Time For The Little Things

Today I thanked my staff for not coming to work in an indignant rage while armed with an automatic weapon. I think it is important that people feel appreciated for the little things they do.

Democracy At The End Of A Smile

The tiny himalayan country of Bhutan is going to become a democracy. Funny, I don't recall the U.S. invading them. Must have been on the Q.T.

I am intrigued by their desire to measure the amount of Gross National Happiness (GNH). Unlike the GDP, this is one measure of success I could actually contribute to.

Sweet Serendipity

I love the internet. It is custom-made for my unfocused mind. Follow me now on this short trip...

Whilst reading this post at The Galloping Beaver blog, I followed a link to this story. Which featured a reference to this band. Never having heard of them, I clicked a link to a video to one of their songs. Joy! A great song, a great counterpoint to the group love-fest about our wives going on over at KD's blog, and the perfect song for a grey, rainy, wet hanky-over-the-sky kind of day so typical to London in early winter.

Here is the Youtube link for the song, just in case you browser kaks on the streaming link listed above.

Now, off to find more german ukelele music.

Hey, I Resemble That Comic!
