Galaxina

Did anyone other than me see this in a theatre?

Tiptoe Through The Blogroll

World's Greatest Economist (as voted on by the readers of this blog) Dr. Robert J. Oxoby, has been working on a paper about:
"The Effect of Incentive Structure on Heuristic Decision Making: The Proportion Heuristic."
Read it here

Over at The Woodshed, the Rev has a great piece on the Winter Soldier hearings. It is a great read made even better by the comments from The Alpha Male.

Sean Twist let's us take a peek at what he has been reading of late. This man does not sleep.

The big meanies of the Galloping Beaver blog are talking about Iraq, birth control, Saudi Arabia, the Wilkins ice shelf and Cheetohs. Lazy sods.

Über meanie, the Canadian Cynic, is urging all progressives to be nice for a whole day. I am pretty sure I can't.

Matt, the Atomic Man!, is blogging about his new book, his determination to be the toughest kid on two wheels, and opening his heart to the New York Rangers once more. Matt, remember the words of rock balladeers, Warrant:

My my my I'm once bitten twice shy baby
My my my I'm once bitten twice shy
My my my I'm once bitten twice shy baby

Guard your heart Matt.

The Most Manly Conservative opines on the Expelled imbroglio, whilst Crazy Legs over at the Theatre of Cruelty continues his most excellent series of posts on his trip to Europe last year. A must read. I especially loved his description of travel aboard the Eurostar. I will admit to being a closet train fan. There, I said it.

Last, and most assuredly least, is Sonny Drysdale. Sweet Christ but this man can write. He makes me want to quit writing altogether. If you are sick and tired of my pedantic crap, please go there. Read about the "Likka Sto", "Electric Arthurs", and his 8 fantastic posts on the late London artist Brian Jones.

All in all, it's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood, a neighbourly day...

Moday Flickr Funnies!

It's a rehash of a classic idea; put a funny word into the flickr photo search box and wait for the hilarity to present itself.

Coffee in hand, I ignore the work on my desk ('cause this wouldn't be as funny if I did it at home), and gleefully type "carbuncle". Trust me, right now, honshui is doing the rotfl thing all the kids are thumb-typing about.

Hit "Enter", and wait for the funny pictures to appear and...wha?

Alright, I am not feeling the funny. Maybe another coffee, and another shot at my funny photo game. Here we go, spin the big wheel! No whammies!

Wha?

So, instead of low-brow idiocy, I have stumbled upon art. These photos come from a set called "I Love Carbuncles" by Martin Isaac. According to him,

The title comes from a Channel 4 documentary
which placed Brutalism in a more positive light.

Brutalist architecture is a term that is new to me, but should be familiar to anyone who been at a Canadian University in the past 30 years. According to Mr. Isaac,

"Brutalism as an architectural style was also associated with a social utopian ideology which tended to be supported by its designers."

So, the game was a comedy failure. But I did learn something, and in the end, isn't that really the most important thing?

Hell no!

"Let's Celebrate The Irony"

"Everything is going wrong, but we're so happy"

Dance you monkeys, dance!
