Shorter Jim Chapman--Just Shut Up and Take It

Opining on opinion and opinioneering in his new online newspaper thingy, Jim Chapman has this to say:

"What is an opinion worth? As you will see elsewhere in the Voice of London, opinion plays a significant role when we discuss city hall politics....I have had the opportunity for almost two decades to comment publicly on the things I see and hear around me. Radio, television, newspapers, magazines, all have afforded me the very great privilege of a soapbox from which to share my opinions, critical and otherwise...."

And what do we see at the bottom of this vigorous defense of Jim's right to speak his piece?

Comments are closed.

Well, perhaps Jim is thin-skinned. Big headed, but thin of skin. I'm sure his editor, Herman Gooden, won't be so dainty and fearful of opinion from the anonymous masses...oh. Never mind.

Jim Chapman, speaking for the silent majority, because he won't let them talk.

ZOMG! Zowie Zowie Zoooo!

According to IGN, Spider Man's story line is going to veer off from its usual cosmic geegaws and falderal and, unlike any other comic ever written, dip it's toe into the pool of reality.........

"Marvel supplied this quote from Spider-Man editor Steve Wacker: "Peter Parker's been through some rough times lately, with all of his deadliest foes returning, and he couldn't lose his job at a worse time. He's going to struggle with unemployment and trying to save the city while he can barely afford to keep a roof over his head."

Marvel's press release also mentioned that as a result of this falling out with the mayor, Peter will be blacklisted from employment opportunities in the city, truly creating a challenging situation for the wall-crawler."

Ho.Lee.Crap. It's unprecedented. And sure to redefine this character for years to come.

If They Olympics Have Taught Us Anything...

It's that the only medal that matters is gold.

Nothing else matters

I'm alright with that.

It's Only News to Me

TCM is showing Ben-Hur this evening. Somehow I've never seen this movie, but from what I hear, it's really good. It's funny how you can miss seeing some of these classics, and still know their key scenes from years of exposure to pop culture. So let's dive in...

Holy crap this movie is way gay.

Just saying.

But holy crap it makes Spartacus look like NASCAR. Oh hell, Chuck just jerked off a horse. Won't someone clasp my forearm?

Best movie ever. The chariot racing is just a bonus. A 'nooner if you will.

Cynicism is Easy

There needed to be a counterpoint to my defeatist post, and lo, there it was.

I still think Shatner was too obvious for the closing ceremonies. And not funny.

I'm Just That Fickle

Fuck it. If you can't keep the opposition from scoring in the last thirty seconds, then forget it. I've turned off the tv and gone back to playing with my children. What a waste of 2 hours.

Update:

Sweet fancy moses, am I prescient or what?
