Is Boston's More Than A Feeling the greatest summer song ever? Cnce upon a time a young London scribe said as much on DNTO (back when it was good). He described long summer days, the need to escape to some imagined reality far better than the current one, and a longing that the good times would never end. I remember standing up from my work (some brutal weeding on my hands and knees on tennis courts in the hot sun) and laughing at the familiar name and the familiar need to be somewhere else.

Just Some Thoughts On Privacy and WOW
Game maker Blizzard has, correctly in my opinion, backed down from its plan to make their forum users display their real names. This doesn't affect me as I don't play WOW, but it did come up a lot with gaming journalists, and I was surprised by their views. People like Tech News Today's Tom Merritt and Sarah Lane came out in favour of Blizzard stripping anonymity from their users. So did Garnett Lee of Shacknews and Jeff Cannata of the Totally Rad Show. All sang the familiar refrain of "I use my real name when I'm online giving my opinion, so I don't see a problem with that". Well kids, the problem is that when you are online being journalist, giving us your opinions, or starring in a bad movie review show, you are at work. Of course you aren't anonymous at work, few of us are. But for WOWers (I just made that up), this is leisure. Do all of you walk around the gym with a big name tag on your back? Sarah Lane, do you use your real name in every forum you go to? When Garnett is driving around LA, does he put a sign on his car with his address, just in case he yells at another driver? You need to be held accountable Garnett. The gist of this is we all operate everyday with a fair amount of assumed anonymity. I can choose to pay cash for things so that my name is not attached to a purchase at the grocery store. When I meet you at a party, you only get my first name, and not my life story. We expect to be able to consume things and walk about without everyone knowing who we are. Yes, we are filmed and photographed without our knowledge, and we leave behind large electronic trails, but only evil corporations have that information, not the people behind me in the express line. We have the expectation of personal privacy when we are not at work, and we should always have the option of buying something without divulging personal information. Blizzard forgot this, or, like Google Buzz, they think that nobody cares about privacy anymore.
By the way, nice house Larry.

Life Immitates Art, And the Horseman are to Blame
As a relative and a friend of several horsemen, I hate this story. I hate that this proud institution has allowed itself to be mired in the muck of racism and infidelity to the motto. We deserve better.
But...you don't come here for high falutin' chatter. You want the whiskey straight, and in a glass just barely clean thanks to my bar rag. Alright fuckers.
The JD take on this horrible tragedy can only lead you to music. I'm too sad to explain it, so do the math on your own.
