God uses the tough times (as well as good ones – but somehow bad things really do tend to get our attention) to ‘discipline’ us or to educate/train us so that we can get to where we need to go...I don’t believe God causes our troubles, but I know he allows them. Like a parent teaching a loved child to respond well to life’s hurts, God is able to use such times to help us grow and mature.
So, God is a dick. At least we can take solace (if this nonsense were somehow true) that the Japanese people, especially those directly affected by the recent earthquake and subsequent tsunami, will finally learn some fucking discipline.
