A few years ago there was a documentary about how Star Trek inspired various technologies and inventions. "How William Shatner Changed the World" did an excellent job with technology, but, by their own admission, fell down a bit on arts and culture. They missed the one of the most popular creations/inspirations due to Star Trek.
