Inconceivable!
From the Kingston Whig Standard via a link from Always OUA comes the charming, feel-good story of the decade. Queen's Golden Gaels football team head coach Pat Sheahan has coached, and works with, his sons.
In an otherwise innocuous little piece, comes this comedic gem from eldest son Ryan:
"I don't know how many people in the world can say they love what they do and get to do it with their father and their kid brother," said Ryan Sheahan, a quarterbacks coach/video co-ordinator...
Really? You can't think of any other families that work together? How about coaches who work with or coach their sons/sons? Nobody?

Some Cheese For Your Western Wine
Having let us all know that they consider the Football Reporters of Canada CIS top 10 to be utter bullshit, here is a Power Top Ten for the CIS that should satisfy Fugle and Nonny.
Perhaps you like the FRC rankings now? That would be true to form.

Some People Get it, Part II
Another great commentary from the Super Happy Fun Slide this time on the Queen's - Western game (debacle?) from last weekend.
Leave it to a 'Stang to ask the tough questions.
"As last Saturday's Western-Queen's game spiraled out of control I found myself conflicted. Usually that isn't the case: Queen's=bad, Western=good. Although the whooping that the Gaels administered wasn't a whole lot of fun to behold, I was more conflicted about the Mustang-side of the unequal equation. I'll be a purple booster till the cows come home--No, the cow reference isn't in relation to the fact that I was one of those carefree dreamers that thought Guelph had a shot at a five win regular season--, but my despondent thoughts drifted around the duty that a team is bound by, in fielding a competitive squad. Even though I fear my UWO student and alumni card may be confiscated and cut up, tonight's article deals with the issue of sportsmanship and the responsibility to play like you mean it, in relation to Western's decision to rest the majority of their difference-makers and game-changers."
It gets better. Go and read. Especially Fugle and Nonny, as they tend to skim.

Someone Gets It
Some people just get it, some people don't. Here's a blogger and CIS football fan who does:
"Sorry guys, whether one can stomach the fact or not, Mustang football has proven itself to be historically essential to the Canadian university sports-scholastic landscape. Considering historical relevance and the extra dimension that this year's Mustang offensive spectacle has become, the purple ponies are simply more demanding and worthy of a larger serving of the media's attention. The CIS and OUA put their best foot forward when the best rivalries and critical match-ups are showcased; this week, theScore should have been in the Forest City.
I know that I'm not really saying anything that isn't grudging acknowledged, in some circles, but sometimes it just has to be said."
Really, what more need be said?
