The Most Depressing Post On the Internet, Today

On a site that saddens me more than I can say, this might be the saddest post. Leave aside the commenter who is super sure that women have one less rib, this page made me reach for the whiskey and The Cure, just so I could feel good. Sadly, it's safe for work.

Why I'm Not Teaching My Children To Follow Their Dreams.

[I'm just going to post choice bits, because you really don't need more misery in your life.]

"I can not find anything in Scripture that encourages us to “follow our dreams”. In fact, quite the contrary. My Bible says to “deny yourself and follow Me”.

"Am I teaching my children to follow their dreams? No; I’m teaching them to follow Christ, in whom all their dreams will be fulfilled."

"you obey Scripture and follow God by following your husband. You may pray that God would change the heart of your husband, but I don’t recommend it unless you have spent lots of time asking God to change YOUR heart to the point that you are willing to deny your wants, needs, desires…everything…to follow…God and your husband. That is the heart of being a Christian wife and mother. "

And on and on it goes, for hundreds of comments. Endless women so ready and willing to give up everything for sky daddy.

Gak. That makes me feel...like this:

Wednesday is looking pretty good weather-wise. Might be a good day to lose a toe to the mower. How about you? Any plans? Well, off to cheer up with Dark Souls.

  1. Puts me in mind of that classic Salma Hayak line form the film Dogma

"You people don't celebrate your faith you mourn it."

Sad that they get to inflict their nihilism on their kids. It's weird using that world to describe faith-heads, but it seems strangely appropriate.

  2. You have to wonder how long such people can go on believing in Santa Claus and living such stunted lives.
Also, where did you get that portrait of me?

  5. I'm going to have to attempt to read that dreck later.....I started and got as far as "...still remain in the realm of helpmeet and keeper at home, about the glories of being freed from the slavery of someone else’s clock and schedule and agenda", but I mis-read it as "slavery of someone else's cock", had a laughing fit, and just can't get the whole "cock" thing out of my head.
    I'm 12 years old.
And I'll be damned if I'm going to teach my girls to be barefoot, pregnant, submissives........or teach my sons to expect or want that in a woman.
Jumpin jehosephat, those are some stupid wenches.
