Now Who's Lame? Hunh? Hunh?

What did I just say? Didn't I just say that my local, community paper seems to always feature pictures of seniors, dancing for fitness? Didn't I just take a bunch of crap for commenting on stories from this "local rag" due to it's lack of hard news bonafides?

Nice to know the Globe and Mail is off the blog fodder table now too.

Astonishing and Shocking New JDGoodness Character; Exclusive!

Rumours abound that the Jim Dandy Goodness blog will be revealing a new gay character, starting next month. When asked if this had anything to do with trying to cash in on the outrage over Alan Scott going all gay over in the DC funny books, guy-who-writes blog said
"Sure. You can't pull scoops from the London Community News everyday; they only publish once a week. Most of the time the coverage is of golf and seniors dancing for fitness. Christ, this town is so boring some days."

It has been said the the appearance of a new and "way super gay" character on the blog is shameless click bait, done only to silence critics of the lack of sexual and gender diversity on the Jim Dandy Goodness blog. Some wags have been heard to cough "sellout" into their trench coat collars when passing by the blog offices at end of day. Regardless of the naysayers, this is a bold move, right out of 1985. Remember 1985? When that deluded fucker Ronald Regan wouldn't acknowledge Ryan White? Fuck that guy.

Blog guy says that the new character is named "Star Fleur" and will start posting once he figures out how to get a non-corporeal imaginary construct to start a gmail account.

These Shirts are Jim Dandy!

After much consultation and brain-storming with "Anonymous", we've decided the time is right for some Jim Dandy Goodness t-shirts! There are two styles to choose from. Two, yes, two!

In keeping with the leitmotif of the blog, I won't be actually doing anything. But feel free to take the idea for yourself. I don't want to risk a catastrophic failure on takeoff, so I'll be in the hanger.

Because There's No Such Thing As Too Much Honeymoon Suite

I suppose it was attending a high-school reunion this weekend that has me thinking about the past. So when I saw One Direction's video for "What Makes You Beautiful" it seemed very familiar. Here it is side-by-side with Honeymoon Suite's vastly superior, "Wave Babies". They don't perfectly synch, but the similarities are striking and fill old guys like me with mirth.
For the best listening and viewing pleasure, turn down the volume of the One Direction song. You'll be glad you did.

It's All About Public Service

The latest salvo of incoherent and inchoate comments from "Anonymous" has served as a reminder of two salient points:

  1. This is pull medium, not a push medium.
  2. There are lots of other places to read things written by smart people, avail yourself of them
One place Anonymous could start is the wiki entry for the "On-to-Ottawa Trek". Here Anonymous will learn a a little about the history of civil unrest and of the abuse of police powers. As, statistically, there is no possibility that every man involved in the Regina riot had never been arrested previously, he might rethink his/her stance on people suffering police abuse.

Anyone wanting to take on a real journalist and complain about "slime" daring to fight for a better life, please stop by Kevin's place and discus Quebec student protests, your sense of entitlement, or Pete Seeger. Please, please tell Kevin how much you know about Pete Seeger.

What else? Well, Sonny has a great piece on Dark Shadows. He's a professional writer, so enjoy tearing him a new one.

Sean Twist writes about culture, geeky and otherwise. He'd love for some of my commenters to drop by and tell him how useless blogs are. Bring your A game or you won't even get out of moderation.

Denise at Pass The Douchey's continues her great blogging about dance, atheism, and American religious douchebags.

Superfun Happy Slide has been scientifically proven to be a better writer than me.He's way, way more interesting too.

Harebell at a Voice From the Pack continues to hammer away at social injustice and bad soccer refereeing with a fervour that borders on manic. He's a machine and worth the trip to Steinbach.

Finally, as most commenters fancy themselves wordsmiths, drop by Leanne Moffat's web site. She has a great piece on fucking everything and is looking for your fucking contribution.

If that fails, well, there are always bunnies.

I think this little ditty from 1973 puts a fine point on things for all anonymous commenters and Gary Bell fans.
